Inauguration Date Update

Seven days and counting…I’m still waiting and hopeful that I will have a date to a Presidential Inaugural Ball. I understand there will be tickets released any day for the Neighborhood Ball… there’s still a chance!

On November 4th, I was one lucky to be a part of an amazing experience. I was on U Street in Washington, DC with friends watching the election results. When Obama was announced as the winner, the street exploded with cheers, blaring horns from the cars, tears, and thousands of smiling faces of all ages and races. The streets were filled with celebration and pure joy.
It’s a big day for our country and a big day for me. It’s my birthday. Not only is it my birthday, but I’ll be turning 44 (yes) and Obama will be the 44th president.

I would love to go to a Presidential Inaugural Ball. I’ve never been and I think it would be a memorable way to celebrate our new president and my birthday. There are two big roadblocks: I do not have a ticket and I do not have a date. (Not to mention, I do not have a fairy godmother.)

My friends think I’m crazy for wanting to go to the inaugural ball since it’s a bit of a mad house and I would probably be attending with someone I don’t know. I’d be willing to experience the mad house (so was the night Obama was elected, but it was incredible), but they’re right, going to the event with a stranger is not the safest or most fun way to celebrate my birthday.

The perfect scenario would be if I were invited to go with a single guy who I knew or a friend I knew. So, I’m putting it out there to the universe. It’s like the movie with Drew Barrymore, Never Been Kissed. Now, I’ll just stand here hoping he shows up. Fortunately, I’m giving him more than 5 minutes…
